October TBR

Hello everyone and welcome to my October TBR! Apologies for the huuuuuuge gap since I lasted posted here! Life has got a bit crazy recently (an update is coming!) but for the moment, I am back!!

I love Autumn, and I love Halloween, so I am very excited to have created a brilliant spooky October TBR pile for myself! Here we go!

The House in the Woods by Yvette Fielding This is an awesome new book from Yvette Fielding, Ghost Hunter and ex- Blue Peter presenter, about a group of kids who discover a haunted house and end up bringing the ghost home with them! Thank you to Andersen Press for sending me a proof copy of this book!

Horseman by Christina Henry

Continuing the spooky theme of this TBR, next up is Horseman by Christina Henry, a horror book about Sleepy Hollow and the Headless Horseman. This is one of my favourite spooky stories, and I’ve heard so many good things about Henry’s writing, I am excited to jump into this novel. Thank you to Titan Books for sending an ebook copy for me to read!

Dark and Shallow Lies by Ginny Myers Sain

I don’t know if you’ve noticed the theme in this TBR so far, but continuing the spooky books, I also want to read this YA novel. Apart from having a really lovely cover, I don’t know very much about this novel at all, but I’ve heard very good things!

A Clockwork River by J.S. Emery

I am super excited to be a part of the blog tour for this book in October! This is described as a Hydropunk novel, which really intrigues me! Thank you to Head of Zeus for inviting me to join this tour!

We Played WIth Fire by Catherine Barter

I have had this book on my Netgalley shelf for too long, and I am determined to get to it this month while I’m in the mood for ghosty stories. I love historical novels about ghosts and spirits, and this YA novel looks awesome!

Thank you to Andersen Press for the ebook copy.

The Lighthouse Witches by C.J. Cooke

This is another book that I’ve had a proof copy of for a wee while, and have been purposefully leaving it until spooky month! I haven’t read anything else by Cooke, although I do have The Nesting by them on my TBR. I love anything featuring witches, so I’m excited to pick this one up!

Thank you to HarperCollins for the proof copy.

Way of the Argosi by Sebastien De Castell

The second blog tour I am a part of in October is for Fall of the Argosi, the sequel to this book, which is a prequel to the Shadowslinger series by this author. I really love the Shadowslinger series a lot, and I am very excited to rejoin the world again! Thank you to Hot Key Books and Kaleidoscope Tours

The Spirit Engineer by A.J. West

I am very excited to read this book, I’ve seen so many good things about it online! This looks like an awesome book of hauntings and spirits, and features some famous historical characters. Thank you to Duckworth Books for approving me for an eARC of this novel.

Fall of the Argosi by Sebastien De Castell

This is the book I will be reviewing in the second blog tour I’m joining in October! I love the original YA series, and I know these prequels are going to be just as awesome. Again thank you to Hot Key Books and Kaleidoscope Tours for the copy to read!

Hide by Nell Pattison

I was lucky enough to receive a proof copy of this thriller from Harper Collins, and I am so excited to start it. From what I’ve heard about this book, its a twisty page-turner that keeps you guessing right until the final page! I love a thriller, and I can’t wait to jump into this one!

Voyages in the Underworld of Orpheus Black by Marcus Sedgwick, Julian Sedgwick, Alexis Deacon

I only discovered this book recently, but ever since my order of it arrived I have been desperate to pick it up. Filled with beautiful illustrations, I know I’m going to love this YA illustrated novel.

The Whistling by Rebecca Netley

Continuing the theme of spooky books, I also would like to read this creepy looking novel. It’s set on a remote Scottish island, and features a haunted house! I know this is going to be the perfect book to curl up with on cold dark nights. Thank you Penguin for the proof copy.

Utterly Dark and the Face of the Deep by Philip Reeve.

I love Philip Reeve’s previous books a lot, Mortal Engines is one of my fave series, so I was very excited to see he was writing a new series! I love a middle grade adventure novel, and this one looks like its going to be awesome!

Medusa by Jessie Burton

This book is one of my most anticipated releases for the last quarter of 2021, and I was super lucky to receive a proof copy from Bloomsbury. I cant wait to read this novel, which is packed with beautiful illustrations by Olivia Lomenech Gill.

There we go! That’s my slightly optimistic TBR for October. Hopefully I can read all of these books, because the TBR pile isn’t getting any smaller!!
