May Wrap Up!

May was a pretty good month for reading. I finished 8 books this month, which is a good tally for me! Here they are:

A Thousand Ships by Natalie Haynes.

5/5 stars. I loved this novel, a female focussed
 retelling of the Battle of Troy.

3/5 stars. 
A YA retelling of the Romanov family's final 
weeks in captivity with some magic thrown in.

The Science of Storytelling by Will Storr

3.5/5 stars. I listened to this on audiobook. 
It's a fascinating novel about story writing 
and the psychology of character.

A Good Girl's Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

5/5 stars. This is an amazing YA crime novel. 
With loads of twists and turns, it's impossible
to put it down!

Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov

4/5 stars. My reading of Romanov has started a
love of Russian Literature so I borrowed this 
off a friend! 

The Romanov Sisters by Helen Rappaport

5/5 stars. Continuing my Russian history month,
I listened to this fascinating audiobook about
the lives of the four Romanov sisters.

The Hunting Party by Lucy Foley

5/5 stars. A fascinating crime novel in which 
the reader doesn't know the victim or the 
murderer until the end! Add this to a remote 
and snowy Scottish Highlands setting and you 
have an incredible novel!

salt slow by Julia Armfield

4/5 stars. A collection of bizarre yet 
fascinating short stories about women and 
female bodies.
