This is a YA paranormal fantasy which looks right up my street! Following Clara, a witch who's magic is tied to each season. I'm hoping for a novel full of magic and powerful witches!

The Wolf and the Woodsman by Ava Reid

This is a dark fantasy inspired by Hungarian history and Jewish mythology which I have heard such good things about. Evike is chosen to be the sacrifice for her village to the King's Blood sacrifice, but when her transport to the sacrifice is attacked by monsters, she finds herself teaming up with the Captain of the soldiers to survive. This looks dark and fantastical, and I am excited to get to it.

Ace of Spades by Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé

I am so excited to start this book, it has been one of my anticipated releases for so long. Set in a high school, this is a YA thriller which I have heard so many good things about! Apparently it is filled with twists and turns and is impossible to put down! I can't wait to start it!

For the Wolf by Hannah Whitten

Another dark fantasy featuring a wolf in the title! Red is a second daughter, this means she is born a sacrifice to the Wolf. Her magic is strong, and she discovers that the Wolf is not all she expected. I am excited to begin this novel, it looks wonderful!

One of my most anticipated releases of 2021, I cannot wait to reads this one! A vengeful Princess and a Priestess who's lives become entangled one fateful night. I cannot wait for the female filled fantasy!

Seven Deaths of an Empire by G.R. Matthews

This is an awesome looking historical fantasy about rebellion and magic. Featuring powerful magicians and uprisings, the Emperor is dead, and his body must be transported safely back to the capital. We follow a General in the Army, and an Apprentice Magician who are assigned as part of the guard to do this! Looks so good!

Monstrous Design by Kat Dunn

This is another of my most anticipated reads! It is the sequel to the brilliant Dangerous Remedy, a YA fantasy set in Revolutionary France. I adored the first book, and the characters are some of my faves, so I cannot wait to read this sequel! The last book ended on such a cliffhanger, I need to know what happens next!

Black Water Sister by Zen Cho 

This is a fantasy novel set in Malaysia about Jessamyn who begins to hear the voice of her late grandmother in her head. Her grandmother decides to enact some revenge from beyond the grave, and decides to use Jessamyn's body to do it! This looks like a clever and humorous ghost story!

The Block by Ben Oliver

This is the sequel to the action-packed YA novel The Loop which I read and enjoyed at the end of 2020. After their breakout of the previous novel, Luka and friends are sheltering in the destroyed city trying to figure out a way to save their friends and the world. This series is so good!

Assassin's Quest by Robin Hobb

This book has been on March and April's TBR but hasn't been read yet! I am determined that May will be the month! This is the third book in the Farseer Trilogy, and I have loved the previous two books, this one I'm sure will not disappoint!

When They Call You A Terrorist by Patrisse Khan-Cullors & Asha Bandele

The first non-fiction on my May TBR, this is a memoir about the founding of the Black Lives Matter movement. This looks like an important and powerful memoir, with a foreword by Angela Davis.

A Little Hatred by Joe Abercrombie

This is the first book in a new fantasy series from Abercrombie, although it is set in the First Law world. Featuring all new characters, I am intrigued to try some of Abercrombie's work!

All That Remains by Sue Black

The second non-fiction book on May TBR is All That Remains by Sue Black. This is a fascinating memoir about Black's role as a forensic anthropologist, and her opinions and beliefs about death and the dying. I have heard so many good things about this book!

The Beauty of the Wolf by Wray Delaney

This is a gothic retelling of Beauty and the Beast featuring faeries! I love Beauty and the Beast retellings so this is right up my street. Wray Delaney is a pseudonym of Sally Gardner, one of my favourite authors!

Such A Fun Age by Kiley Reid

The last book I'm planning on reading in May is Such a Fun Age, a contemporary novel about race and privilege in today's society. I am intrigued by this novel, I've heard some good things!
