January TBR | A realistic list
Hello, welcome to a new year, and a new monthly TBR! I am hoping to actually stick to my TBRs this year, last year did not quite work out! So I’ve kept this TBR small, just 8 books, which feels reasonable. Here is my January TBR, a realistic list!
My January TBR
The Hatmakers by Tamzin Merchant
This is a book that I have had on my TBR since summer last year, and its always called to me! I have a beautiful hardback copy, and I just know I am going to love it so much. Telling the story of Cordelia and her family of magical hatmakers who are tasked with making a hat to keep the peace between England and France, this is going to be a magical adventure I can tell!

Queen of Coin and Whispers by Helen Corcoran
This is a book that I bought entirely based on chatter on Twitter. I have seen so many people raving about this queer fantasy novel that I just had to buy a copy! In this book we follow Lia who has recently inherited the kingdom from her Uncle, and Xania who is hired to be the Kingdom’s spymaster. They start to develop feelings for each other and I cannot wait!!

The Ship of Doom by M.A Bennett
I love M.A Bennett’s YA series, so when this popped up on Netgalley I requested super quickly! This is a middle grade novel set in the 1800s, featuring time travel, adventure and the Titanic! It’s published 3rd March.

Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie
One of my reading resolutions is to read more of the classics I own, and where better to start than Agatha Christie? I own a whole set of her novels, and I’ve read probably 2 of them! So I’m kicking off the year with this one. It sounds quite similar to Murder on the Orient Express to be honest, but we’ll see!

Tilly and the Lost Fairy Tales by Anna James
This is the second book in the Pages & Co series, a series I jumped into in December. I knew I was going to love these books about wandering into books and living in a bookshop, and I was completely right! So I can’t wait to continue on with the series.

The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake
This is one of my most anticipated releases of 2022, and I was super excited to get access to the eARC on Netgalley! It’s a fantasy novel with secret societies, ancient civilisations and magic! I can’t wait to dive into this novel! It’s published 3rd March.

Children of the Quicksands by Efua Traoré
I was lucky enough to get a proof copy of this novel from ChickenHouse last year, but I didn’t have time to pick it up! I know I’m going to enjoy it, a Children’s fantasy novel set in a remote Nigerian village is everything I love.

Before They Are Hanged by Joe Abercrombie
I read The Blade Itself in December and loved it, so I definitely want to get to the sequel in January. This is a fantasy trilogy full of blood and brutality, and I loved it. The characters are amazing, and definitely made the book so memorable! It has made its way into my favourite fantasy books for sure!

Looks like you’ve got some great reads planned! I want to read The Hatmakers and The Ship of Doom, too. I hadn’t heard of Before They Are Hanged, but boy does that title grab my attention!
