337 follows the life of Samuel Darte whose mother vanished when he was in his teens. It was his brother, Tom who found her wedding ring on the kitchen table along with the note. While their father pays the price of his mother’s disappearance, Sam learns that his long-estranged Gramma is living out her last days in a nursing home nearby. Keen to learn about what really happened that day and realising the importance of how little time there is, he visits her to finally get the truth. Soon it’ll be too late and the family secrets will be lost forever. Reduced to ashes. But in a story like this, nothing is as it seems. -Goodreads

My thanks to Hideaway Fall Publishers who got in touch and sent me a stunning hardback edition of 337 by M Jonathan Lee.

I have never read any of Lee’s previous work, but I am intrigued by my reading of this novel, and I did really enjoy the writing style, so I shall definitely add his works to my list. The blurb I was sent by the publishers was so intriguing that I had to snap up a chance to read and review by this novel.

This book tells the story of Samuel Duarte who’s mother vanished when he was a teen. Now an adult, his grandmother is dying in a nursing home, and Samuel decides he will spend some time with her and try and discover what really happened the day his mother vanished.

This novel is packed with mystery and atmosphere. You are never quite sure what the situation is, the first point of view being Samuel’s means you can never be quite sure if what he is saying is the truth or not! I enjoyed this unreliable narrator, it added to the mystery and intrigue of the book and to my overall enjoyment of this novel.

The unique element of this novel is the fact that it can be started from either end; front or back. Depending which side you start the book from it changes the entire story and how you read it. This is such an ingenious part of the novel!

It’s difficult to talk too much about 337 without giving away too many spoilers, but just know that it is a page-turning novel where absolutely nothing is as it seems.

Thank you for reading!
