Blog Tour | The First Thing About You

Hello, welcome to my spot on The First Thing About You blog tour by Chaz Hayden and Walker Books. I was so excited to get invited to this tour, and I loved the book so much!

Thank you so much to Walker Books and Rontaler Events for organising the blog tour for The First Thing About You, and for having me on board!

I was very excited to find out about this book, I love how YA is starting to really diversify. This is a brilliant book about Harris, a 15 year old with spinal muscular atrophy, written by Chaz, who also has spinal muscular atrophy. This is such a special book because of the rarity of main characters in wheelchairs in YA, especially romances. But it is also a special book because it is so good! The characters are wonderful, the writing style is accessible and snarky and does feel very 15 year old-like. This is a lovely contemporary romance with great relationships between the characters.

This novel made me feel warm and cozy as I was reading it, it was a lovely book to read. The author has written such a lovely warm novel with such likeable characters I couldn’t help but fall in love with it.

Harris is a brilliant main character, whether he is based entirely on Chaz or not I do not know!! He is very likeable and relatable and I was really rooting for him throughout the novel.

Overall I loved reading this novel, it was a lovely sweet romance novel. I love that the character was in a wheelchair and the representation this brings, it’s so important in all books, but especially kids and YA! Thank you again Walker Books for having me on the blog tour!
