Book Addiction Tag

It’s time for another book tag! I love doing these, I found this one on Book Marauder’s blog and thought it looked fun!
What is the longest amount of time you can comfortably go without picking up a book?
Unless I am in a reading slump I read a book every day, so I guess the answer is a day??
How many books do you carry on your person (or Kindle) at any one time?
So I always have at least one physical book with me, but I have around 400+ unread books on my Kindle app on my phone, so I always have something to read!!
Do you keep every book you buy/receive or are you happy to pass them on to make space for more?
I don’t keep all the books I read, because I wouldn’t have enough space!! I donate the ones I feel ambivalent about or didn’t like to charity, or friends if they want to read it.
How long would you spend in a bookshop on a standard visit?
I could spend days in a bookshop! But since working in a bookshop I haven’t actually visited and browsed a bookshop in a while, just because I spend all day in one! But I could spend my life in bookshops.
How much time per day do you actually spend reading?
I listen to audiobooks while I’m commuting, so I get almost 2 hours reading every day I work, so in addition to this I maybe pick up a book for another 90 mins in the day.
Where does the task ‘picking up a book’ appear on your daily to-do list?
I guess I don’t really put it on my to-do list, I don’t really consider it a task that needs to be done. If I have spare time I read, but only once I’ve completed other tasks, or made time for them.
How many books do you reckon you own in total (including e-books)?
So I have 400+ ebooks, and maybe 300-400 physical books, so yeah, maybe 800?? I haven’t counted them, and honestly I don’t really want to!!!
Approximately how often do you bring books up in conversation?
I have realised that I do this quite a lot, especially when I’m speaking to people outside of my work buddies. I guess I just talk about things I know about!!
What is the biggest book (page count) you have finished reading?
So I’ve checked my Goodreads stats for this one, apparently the longest book I’ve read is Middlemarch by George Eliot. This book feels so much longer than the 904 pages, it took me ages to read and honestly I hated it. But there we go, the longest book!
Is there a book you had to get your hands on against all odds (i.e searching bookshops, online digging etc)?
I actually can’t think of any book that I’ve been that desperate for sadly!
A book you struggled to finish but refused to DNF?
The above mentioned Middlemarch definitely falls into this category, I had to read it for uni, and I was determined to get to the end, even though literally nothing happens in the 900+ pages! I would also include The Water Cure by Sophie Mackintosh and Ghost Wall by Sarah Moss in this category too.
What are 3 of your main book goals for 2019?
I wanted to read 70 books this year which I actually managed to complete in September. I don’t really have any other goals to be honest!
Have you ever had the privilege of converting someone into a reader (maybe via inspiration or incessant nagging)?
I’m not sure if I have inspired anyone. I like to think that I encourage the kids at my bookclub to read more and wider genres, but maybe that’s wishful thinking!!
Describe what books mean to you in five words.
Ooooh this is tricky. Wonderful portals to new places! That will do!
Thank you so much for reading, this was fun! I’m going to tag my buddy Kenneth at BooksILike who I know loves a good tag!!
