Hello everyone, welcome to my Weekly Wrap Up for last week. I’m going to chat a wee bit about what I read and anything I hauled.
Scotland is still in full lockdown so I have plenty of time to read, and as such I have been trying to take advantage of that and get lots read! I’m not sure how successful I have been, but you can judge for yourself.
Books Read
Shadowblack by Sebastien de Castell
This is the second book in the Spellslinger series, a YA fantasy series which I would describe as kind of Wild West Cowboys with magic! It’s very good, and I have been enjoying the audiobooks of these from my local library!
This is a great YA paranormal fantasy featuring vampires in 1800s New Orleans! I am definitely ready for a vampire comeback so this was right up my street!
The sequel is out in July, and with that cliff-hanger I need to get into my eARC as soon as possible!
I took a break from my Spellslinger audiobook monopoly to listen to a slightly different book. This is a middle grade adventure/horror, and it has some spooky parts indeed! I’m enjoying using the library to listen to loads of books I would not normally read.
I listened to his other novella A Dead Djinn in Cairo earlier in May and really enjoyed it, so I’m hopeful to get to this one by the end of the month!
This novella has also been shortlisted for a Hugo award which makes me even more excited to read it!
Books Hauled
The Space Between Worlds by Micaiah Johnson
I received an eARC copy of this novel from Hodder & Stoughton, and it looks like a very exciting sci-fi novel. It’s published in August, so I have a wee while to read and review it!
