March Wrap Up

Murder on the Safari Star by M.G. Leonard & Sam Sedgman

This is the third book in the Adventures on Trains series, one of my favourite middle grade series! This series follows Hal and his Uncle Nat as they travel on famous trains, and Hal solves mysteries! In this novel they are on safari in Africa, and it's a really fun book!
I gave it 5/5 stars!

Rumaysa by Radiya Hafiza

This novel is a collection of fairytale retellings, focussing on the Princesses, no one needs saved in this one! Also has a very fun Aladdin cameo! I really loved this book, the writing style is so magical.

The Deepest Breath by Meg Grehan

I listened to the audiobook of this contemporary book. It's written in verse, which translates beautifully to audio, and I really enjoyed this one! It is about Stevie who is trying to understand her feelings for a girl she is friends with at school. It is a sweet and moving books, which I cannot wait to recommend to others in store!

The Edge of the Ocean by L.D. Lapinski

The Strangeworlds Travel Agency is one of my favourite books ever, so I couldn't wait to pick the sequel up!! It did not disappoint at all, it was awesome! It had pirates, mer-people and more magic. A wonderful sequel!

What Beauty There Is by Cory Anderson

FireKeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley

My second YA thriller of the month was this fabulous novel about Daunis, who has to balance her life at school with being an Ojibwe woman. When the FBI start investigating drug dealing in her school, she finds herself caught up in the investigation. This is a real page-turner of a novel!

The Outrage by William Hussey

This is another hard-hitting YA novel. This one is set in a dystopian Britain where being gay has been banned, and is completely outlawed. A scary portrayal of Britain, this book is excellent, you will fall in love with all the characters!

Contender: The Chosen by Taran Matharu

I was sent this book and its sequel to review by Hachette Children's Books. An adventure series about a group of school kids who find themselves trapped in a deadly battle against other teams of soldiers. Featuring Romans and dinosaurs, I love these books!!

Contender: The Challenger by Taran Matharu

The sequel to The Chosen, this book is just as intense as the first, and it ends on the most unbearable cliff-hanger! I love this series, and I know loads of readers in the shop are going to love them too!

Blood of an Exile by Brian Naslund

I didn't read that much fantasy in March, but one book I did read and really enjoyed was this one. It's got dragons and magic, and I'm really looking forward to reading the sequel.

Upright Women Wanted by Sarah Gailey

I listened to this book on audio early in March, and I really enjoyed it. This is a Western novel reinvented within a near future setting, featuring queer characters and an organisation called The Librarians, who spread propaganda across the US. I really enjoyed this book, I loved the characters and the romance!

Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi

This is a book that I have had my eye on for a long time. It's sold really well in the shop, and the whole concept intrigued me. Sadly the book didn't quite deliver for me, it all felt a little cold and distant, and I couldn't really connect to the story or the characters.

Shades of Magic Vol. 1 The Steel Prince by V.E. Schwab

I have had this graphic novel on my TBR pile for a long time, but I wanted to read the first novel before I read this! I liked this story, it was quick and action-packed. I liked the illustrations too, they were pretty and the colour palette really added to the story.

Three Hours by Rosamund Lupton

I also read this thriller, set over three hours during an attack at a school in England. This is a very intense read, from page one the action is non-stop. I enjoyed this novel, although I didn't connect to the characters as much as I wanted to.
