February Wrap Up

Die Vol. 2 Split the Party
I am really loving this graphic novel series, its dark and moving and I can't stop reading them! It's a series about a group of kids who get sucked into a game like Dungeon & Dragons. This series is so imaginative and inventive, I have no idea where it's going!

Goldie Vance Vol. 3
I love this graphic novel series! Goldie is a private detective when she isn't working at the hotel her dad runs! She is smart and funny, and it has lovely f/f representation! These are perfect light-hearted comics!

Food Wars Vol.1
This manga was recommended to me by a lovely colleague at work, and she let me borrow the first 5 volumes! This is a very funny manga about a chef who goes to a prestigious cooking college. The art style is great, and the food all looks superb! I am excited to watch the anime once I'm finished!

The Library of the Dead by T.L. Huchu
This is an action-packed novel about a girl who communicates with ghosts for a living. Set in a dystopian Edinburgh, its dark and exciting, and I loved it!!

Skyward Inn by Aliya Whiteley
This is a very interesting sci-fi novel, which reads almost like literary fiction, rather than sci-fi. It reminded me of Jeff VanderMeer, it has a similar trance-like style of writing. I didn't love this one, it's just not for me!
Thank you to the publisher for the digital ARC.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab
I have had this book on my TBR pile for such a long time, and I finally picked it up! I did enjoy this book, although I do feel if I had read it a few years ago I would have loved it more! Its a fairly straightforward fantasy novel, it was predictable at parts!

This is a jaw-droppingly good political fantasy about a soldier and a princess who are trying to survive on opposite sides of a rebellion! It's got an incredible f/f romance too, loved this so much!!

A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine

I have had this book for quite a while too, and I was very excited to begin it! This is a political sci-fi novel which has such scope and knowledge within it. I really enjoyed this book, although I did have some problems with it.

The Nightjar by Deborah Hewitt
This was a surprise to me, it wasn't what I was expecting at all. It's similar in a lot of ways to A Darker Shade of Magic, which was a surprise! I enjoyed this book, it was a quick fantasy read!

Circus Maximus Race to the Death by Annelise Gray
This is the only children's book I read in February, which is sad! I liked this, its set during the Roman Empire, about chariot racing, which is an unusual topic for kids books!
Thank you to the publisher for the digital ARC.

The Lamplighters by Emma Stonex
This is a literary fiction novel, which I very rarely read, but I was sent this one to review, and I was intrigued! It's an interesting mystery novel, with some very intense topics discussed.
