Following on the breakout success of Northern Wrath , Holdt weaves myth and history in a deeply magical saga.

Einer scours the nine worlds for Hilda, who walks among gods and goddesses, searching the truth of the Runes.
For centuries Siv has run from her past, but she knows that to protect her daughter, and Midgard, she will have to face her worst fears.
It is time to confront the Alfather.
A huge thank you to The Write Reads and Solaris for having me on the blog tour for Shackled Fates, the second book in this brilliant series.
This is book 2 in the trilogy, you can read my thoughts on the first book Northern Wrath here. I really enjoyed my read of the first book, and I went into book 2 excited to see where the story would go. I am happy to report that this book continues in exactly the same way. The pace is breakneck, the narrative arcs twist and intertwine brilliantly, and the bloodshed is still high!
We definitely find out more about the world and the threat that faces it in this novel, and some of the questions from book 1 are answered. Some of the twists I guessed, but some of them I definitely didn’t see coming! Despite its size, this book is a quick read, it is a enrapturing fantasy that is very difficult to put down. I was fully swept away in the narrative.
Holdt is a brilliant storyteller, the atmospheres and settings of the novel are so well crafted I fully felt like I was there, I could feel the biting cold or the sweltering heat myself. Her use of language and writing style is wonderful and perfectly suited to a dark and impressive sweeping fantasy like this one!
I mentioned my favourite characters in my review of book 1 were Hilda and Tyra, and I still think they are my faves. All the characters are developed in this sequel, and all go through some pretty tough situations. These books aren’t for the faint of heart, there is some scenes that definitely made me wince, which is all due to Holdt’s brilliant writing.
Overall I am really enjoying this trilogy a lot, it is a sweeping fantasy with brilliant characters. I love Norse mythology, so this perfectly appeals to me. I can’t wait to share my thoughts on book 3 in a few days!
