A Song for a New Day | Blog Tour

Welcome to my stop on the A Song for a New Day blog tour! Thank you so much Head of Zeus and Jade for inviting me to be a part of this tour! Today I am sharing my review of this dystopian novel!

A Song for a New Day Review:

I will admit that I was a little apprehensive to begin reading this book, am I someone who could cope with reading a book about a pandemic during a pandemic?? You’ll all be glad to hear that I managed!! I made sure not to focus *too* closely on the fact that a lot of the pandemic mirrored our own and I was fine!!

Despite this pandemic narrative element I am extremely glad I picked up this book! It’s a really moving and heartfelt book about living through a pandemic, and the joy music can bring to people’s lives.

This novel has two storylines within it. We follow Luce, who’s band is the last to perform live before a deadly pandemic strikes, and Rosemary who has lived her entire life indoors in the aftermath of the pandemic. When Rosemary gets a new job as a talent scout for a live music platform, their lives intersect.

This novel explores life and humanity through music, and particularly live music. I thought this was a very clever and insightful choice by the author, and I really loved the focus and lens we were viewing the story through! The focus also makes this novel a very unique read, despite dealing with a topic that many authors have tackled before, the novel is a totally new experience to read.

My favourite element of the novel was definitely the writing style. Pinsker has such a lyrical and poetic style of writing that the novel seemed to fly past. The writing ebbs and flows beautifully while you are reading it, and the descriptions of music were so wonderfully written. You can tell that Pinsker is someone who loves music and strongly believes that music makes a huge impact on the listener, and it was beautifully described throughout!

Overall I really enjoyed A Song for a New Day. It was much more than a typical dystopian, and perfect for anyone who likes music!
