This week’s topic is dystopian novels, one of my favourite genres of novels, so I did struggle a wee bit to narrow it down to just 5!!

Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel

I read this novel for the first time a few months ago, and it has made it into my favourite novels of all time. A fascinating dystopian novel following a travelling circus after the end of the world, I highly recommend it!

Where The River Runs Gold by Sita Brahmachari

This is a children’s novel about two siblings surviving in the world after climate change has destroyed almost everything. It’s a beautifully written novel which I recommend to both children and adults to read!

The Electric State by Simon Stalenhag

A fascinating graphic novel set in a 1990s USA which has changed from a high tech country to one in which the technology has died and civilisation has crumbled.

The illustrations are stunning, and I recommend it.

Gilded Cage by Vic James

The first of two YA recommendations on this list, this is one of my favourite series, featuring a dystopian UK and magic, its an excellent read!

The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

One of my favourite authors of all time, Patrick Ness had to be in this list, and this is one of my favourite books of all time!
