Welcome to my book review of A Tempest of Tea. Huge huge thank you to Pan Macmillan for sending me a proof copy of A Tempest of Tea. This is one of my most anticipated releases for 2024, so I couldn’t believe they sent me a copy!!

As you can tell from the rating, I absolutely loved this novel! It took a while to get going, but once I got settled into the world and used to the characters, I couldn’t put the novel down! In the blurb it mentions Six of Crows, and this novel reminded me of Leigh Bardugo’s trilogy a lot. It has a similar vibe and a similar idea with the group of outcasts performing as heist. But that is not to detract from what Faizal has written at all, which is a completely different and excellent novel!

I love a vampire novel, I will always pick up a novel when I read vampires, and this one has a fun twist on the usual plot.

The heist itself is fun, and very well plotted. The novel is action-packed and never lets up, so the reader is really swept along in the narrative. I found the novel very hard to put down! There are also some very fun twists, some of which I did see coming, but others which were fun and took me by surprise.

I’m not a huge romance fan, so I always approach romance with a bit of hesitation, but the romance in this novel is lovely. We have a sort of love triangle, but not a very serious one, and the other romances are very sweet.

I loved the characters too, Arthie the main character is great, she is a very serious character but with the insight we get into her personality we understand why. Jin is the opposite of Arthie, and their double act is perfect. They compliment each other perfectly and made sure that the narrative never faltered.

Thank you for reading my book review of A Tempest of Tea. Overall I loved this novel so much! I was swept away in the fun heist narrative and couldn’t put it down! Perfect for fans of Leigh Bardugo, but also anyone who loves a good YA fantasy with vampires!!
