2022,  Wrap Up

January Wrap Up!

I am so glad January is finished, this month felt 100 days long! I did manage to read a few books during these 100 days, lets chat books! Here is my January Wrap Up!

What I Read!

The Hatmakers by Tamzin Merchant

I have had this book on my shelf for a long time, and it is the most beautiful hardback, so I was determined to get round to reading it in January. I'm super happy to share that I loved it so much, its a magical novel and the sequel is out in February!

Queen of Coin and Whispers by Helen Corcoran

Another book that I have been so excited to read since I bought it, this is a queer fantasy with assassins, royal families and betrayal. I highly recommend this fantasy to all!!

The Ship of Doom by M.A. Bennett

I had a digital ARC of this book from the publisher which I was very excited for, a time travelling novel set on the Titanic, sadly it just didn’t quite deliver for me!

Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie

I’m ashamed to say that I had never read any Agatha Christie novels, despite owning a set of her best known novels. I decided that 2022 would be the year I would finally get around to reading them, and started with Death on the Nile in January. I really enjoyed this novel, its a clever mystery with some interesting characters.

Tilly and the Lost Fairy Tales by Anna James

I’m trying to finish more series in 2022, and I am really loving the Pages & Co series by Anna James. These novels are about a girl who can walk into stories, and she lives in the most enchanting bookshop. I love these books!

The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake

This was one of my most anticipated releases of 2022, and I couldn’t wait to crack into it. Sadly this didn’t really deliver for me, I found it to be disappointing and I didn’t like the characters at all!

Children of the Quicksands by Efua Traoré

This is another book that has been on my TBR pile for a long time, and I liked it! Its a middle grade novel set in Nigeria featuring magic, Yoruba myths and adventure! I really liked this quick read!

Pandora by Susan Stokes-Chapman

Sadly I finished January on a bit of a downer, I was really excited for this book, a retelling of the myth of Pandora’s Jar. I was so bored reading it! I don’t read that much historical fiction, so that may have something to do with it, but I was disappointed!

So I managed to read 8 books in January which I’m pretty pleased with. It was a real mix of ratings, some 2.5 stars and some 4.5 stars! Thank you for reading my January Wrap Up!
