Six for Sunday | Books That Made Me Feel
Hello everyone, welcome to another Six for Sunday post! Today we are talking all about books that made me feel things while I was reading them! As an emotional wreck, I often feel a lot of emotions while reading, here’s 6 I want to chat about.
Thanks as always to the lovely Steph for hosting!
The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave

Although this was a bit of a slow start for me, once I got into this book I fully couldn’t put it down. I fell totally in love with the women in this book. Set on a Norwegian Island inhabited by only women, I highly recommend this novel!

The Black Flamingo by Dean Atta

I read this book in 2020 while in lockdown and I fell in love with it. Michael is a wonderful and strong character and this novel is so important to young people who are discovering who they are. This novel is written in verse and is so accessible, and I would highly recommend it! Buy from Waterstones here
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

The Night Circus is a book that so many people recommended to me, telling me I would love it. They were right, I absolutely adored every single page of this, and my heart broke numerous times throughout! If you haven't read this book I highly recommend it, its a magical fantasy novel which I love. Buy from Waterstones here
The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune

I listened to the audiobook of this novel and loved every single second. I need to re-read this just to visit the characters again. Every single character now has a special place in my heart, this is a hopeful gentle book which I adored. Buy from Waterstones here
A Kind of Spark by Elle McNicoll

This book means so much to me I couldn't not include it. Addie is the most brilliant main character, and the representation of autism in children's books is so important, and this one does it so well. I force this book onto everyone, it is the absolute best. Buy from Waterstones here
The Five: The Untold Lives of the Women Killed by Jack the Ripper by Hallie Rubenhold

The only non-fiction on this list is The Five. This is a powerful book about the victims of Jack the Ripper. The focus is entirely on the victims, no time is spent on the Ripper himself, and that was so refreshing to read. A very important historical novel. Buy from Waterstones here
There we go, there are 6 books that made me feel things! Have you read any of these? Do you have any recommendations? Let me know!
