Book Beginnings and The Friday 56

Friday, 16 February 2018

On Fridays I will share excerpts from whatever I am reading that day. First, Book Beginnings hosted by Rose City Reader  then The Friday 56 hosted by Freda's Voice.

First share the opening lines of your novel, then turn to page 56 (or 56%) and share a few lines!

This weeks book is Estoril by Dejan Tiago-Stankovic

Beginning: "The story of mysterious wires first surfaced in the mid-eighties of the last century, when the Hotel Palacio Estoril underwent complete renovation and two more floors were added to the building."

56%: "It was a warm night. The casino was full. Popov had noticed that his shadow Fleming had abandoned him, which made him very happy, but as soon as he entered the casino he spotted him again, sitting at the roulette table with some German officers, placing his paltry bets, one chip each time."

Thoughts: I'm not far through this novel so far, but so far I'm enjoying it!

Happy reading!

  1. I'm intrigued and I love the cover! I definitely want to know more.

  2. This sounds quite exciting! Happy weekend!

  3. I adore the cover. Also, the writing style seems kind of interesting and unique - very quirky. Maybe I should read the book to be further delighted by it. Thanks for sharing!
